BAIT Career Awareness Camp Registration is Open
BAIT (Business and Information Technology) is a Career Awareness Camp put on by Valley City State University and the Sheyenne Valley Career & Technology Center. The mission of this camp is to inform students about opportunities in business and information technology through active participation in hands on activities and assistance with personal career planning.
The 4th annual BAIT Camp is scheduled for June 17th-20th (Tuesday-Friday) on VCSU's campus. Students entering grades 9-12 are encouraged to participate. The cost for campers is $125 which covers the cost of tuition, room and board, recreation activities and a camp shirt. Early Bird Registration brings the cost down to $100. To take advantage of these savings register by April 1st. (Also, note that there are scholarships available. If interested, please contact me for more information). Registrations will be accepted through June 1st and camp enrollment is limited. If interested, please register early to ensure a spot at camp.
For more information or to register visit www.vcsu.edu/BAITcamp. There are a couple of camp brochures on the counselor bulletin board as well for student to take. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Help Us Earn a $25,000 Grant For Litchville-Marion Public School
Grow The Next Generation!!!
America's Farmers Grow Rural Education, a Monsanto Fund program, gives rural public school districts the opportunity to compete for a grant of up to $25,000. All we need to do is get local farmers to nominate our school! Once nominated, we can begin the grant writing process.
This grant program's goal is to help enhance the math and science programs within rural school districts. The best way for America to remain competitive with countries such as China is to ensure our students are getting the best education possible in these two core areas, and provide opportunities for our students to learn more about (and gain more interest in) career fields in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) industries. A grant such as this would definitely help us do that.
I hope you will consider checking out this website and encourage area farmers that you know to check it out as well. The more farmers that nominate a school the stronger the application is as it demonstrates strong community support. If we end up in the grant writing stage, I will take it upon myself to complete the grant application. I do hope that you will consider nominating Litchville-Marion Public School.
Nomination Deadline is April 15th.

PLAN Testing for Sophomores
Sophomores will be taking the PLAN test on Monday, January 28th starting at 8:40 am. This is a preparatory test for the ACT which students take in April of their Junior year of high school. ACT scores are part of the qualification requirements for the State Scholarship Program. Students must receive a 24 or higher on their ACT to use their ACT scores to qualify. The PLAN test is a great way for them to begin preparing themselves so they can score their best on the ACT next year. Upon receiving their PLAN scores, students will have an estimated ACT score which helps them to identify areas in which they should focus to improve their chances of getting the ACT scores that they want and need. Please make sure that your child gets a good night sleep and a decent breakfast the morning of the PLAN. Your support and encouragement makes all the difference in your students life!
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this test.

Litchville-Marion Career Fair
As you may have noticed in the January Counselor Newsletter,
we have a career fair taking place here on Monday, January 14th.
This event will affect all our 7-12 grade students as well as sophomores and
juniors from both Gackle-Streeter and Montpelier schools. As time is winding
down and final preparations are being made, we have realized that we are in
need of some items to help this event run smoothly. Please take note of the
items we are looking for and if you are able and willing to borrow any of these
items for the event please drop them off at the LMHS office (or send them with your child) by this
Friday afternoon. Please be sure to label any item you loan to us so we can be
sure it is returned after the career fair concludes.
We need:
·
Extension Cords
·
Power Strips
·
Folding Tables (preferably the nice, light
weight, utility style tables with folding legs)—we still need about 10 tables
·
Baked Goods for a Hospitality Room
Baked good should not be dropped off until Monday morning,
but please let me know if you are planning to provide baked goods and the
amount you will provide so that we can plan accordingly.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide with this
event! We are looking forward to having so many wonderful career
representatives at our school and in our community to provide our students an
opportunity to explore their options!!!
If you email me, please note that my email address is incorrect on the school website (I am working on getting that changed). My correct email is april.hendrickson.2@sendit.nodak.edu
Thanks!!!
