Teen Dating Violence & Abuse Awareness Week
The week of February 27th, we will be recognizing Teen Dating Violence and Abuse Awareness Week. Throughout the week, students will participate in a variety of activities which may include classroom presentations, discussions, speakers, and a door-decorating. These activities will be aimed at educating students in grades 7-12 about the prevalence of dating violence and abuse among teens, how to recognize the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship and information about getting help for themselves or others if necessary.
As parents, you can play an important role in helping to keep your children out of unhealthy dating relationships or identifying the early warning signs if your child is involved in one. I have included some links below that you can utilize to educate yourself on this important issue that affects 1 in 3 teens who report being in significant relationships (Liz Claiborne, Inc.). I hope you will take some time to learn the facts about teen dating violence and abuse as it may just make the difference in your child’s life.
